1. Come With Purpose
This is more than just charity, it’s about community. We’re here to share love, dignity, and support with our neighbors. Come with a heart to serve, not to save.
2. Go With the Flow
Each area has its own rhythm and a lead. If you’re unsure where to step in, just ask. There is always a way to help, whether it’s handing out food, pouring drinks, or simply offering kindness.
3. Lead With Kindness
The small moments matter. A smile, eye contact, and a warm greeting can be deeply meaningful. Ask before offering something, and try not to assume what someone needs. Dignity always comes first.
4. Keep It Fair
We do our best to make sure everyone receives something. Please follow the item limits and avoid giving out extras once the line begins moving.
5. Let Coordinators Handle Conflicts
If a situation becomes tense or uncomfortable, it’s okay to step back. Let a coordinator or designated security team member know right away.
6. Boundaries Are Healthy
It’s important to connect, but boundaries help protect everyone. Avoid sharing personal contact information, making promises, or handling special requests on your own. These can be directed to a coordinator.
7. Stay Present
Unless you’re taking photos for the group, try to keep your phone put away. Being fully present in the moment is one of the most impactful ways to serve.
8. Ask, Don’t Assume
Everyone's experience with homelessness is different. If you're unsure about something, asking respectfully is always better than making assumptions.
9. If You’re Ever Unsure, Just Ask
You are not expected to have all the answers. If something feels unclear, check in with a team leader. We are here to support each other.
